The Mindful Child

With over 15 years experience in working with children through Environmental Education as well as providing wellbeing and relaxation strategies as a Relax Kids Coach, I have a plethorough of creative ideas that can support your child.  Remember though, if we look after ourselves, we can support others more easily.

This section provides a variety of activities you can try with your child to support them.

Positive Affirmations

Affirmations (statements) are great at promoting mindset and healthy well-being.

Think about the words you are saying to yourself...

You can say affirmations in your head, out loud or post-it note your house, so every time you pass one, you are consciously aware.

Our brains are malleable and so we can retrain our brain.

Give it a shot!

Superhero

You are unique, just like a superhero.

Design your own superhero representing you!

What are your strengths?

Is there a mantra (positive statement) you can repeat to yourself?

Visualise yourself as this superhero in times of need.

Gratitude rock

Find a rock that can fit within the palm of your hand and get creative with some pens.

This rock can be kept somewhere you can see it or put in a school bag.  It i a reminder to think about what you are grateful for.

You only need to spend a minute or so on this a day to change your mindset.

What are you grateful for?

Growth mindset

Learn about growth mindset through playing Mastermind.

At first, it is likely that the child might say, 'I can't do this', but as the game progresses, they soon want to play again and again.

Growth mindset is all about practicing, just like learning to kick a ball.

Love

Your heart is like a jigsaw puzzle.. the pieces of your heart are pieces of love.

Love can be shared.

What you give out, you'll receive back.

What do you love?

A friend in need

This is Tory the Turtle - the best way to let go of pain!

Every bruise is a different shape or size.

What would your friend in need be?
